Hong Kong-Takamatsu Route Turns 1 and Celebrates with HKD61* Flights!

Hong Kong, 17 July 2017             This month marks a very special birthday in the HK Express family! The low-fare airline’s popular Hong Kong-Takamatsu route celebrates its 1st anniversary with exciting events and promotions throughout the month.

HK Express Director and CEO, Andrew Cowen, Governor of Kagawa Prefecture, Keizo Hamada, and Mayor of Takamatsu City, Hideto Onishi, came together today to announce a new travel initiative during the celebration. Following the introduction of the Sanuki Udon themed aircraft livery early this year, HK Express is joining hands with Kagawa Prefecture to roll out the “Kagawa-Takamatsu Itinerary Planning Competition”.

To kick off the campaign, two of Hong Kong’s top influencers — famous travel writer James Hong and travel photographer Henry Lo — will play the part of “Travel Intelligence Agents” and experience must-do activities and immerse in the vibrant art scene of Takamatsu and nearby areas in Kagawa Prefecture. The influencers will then share their journeys with travel lovers through their social media platforms. The event also featured a Sanuki Udon making demonstration, followed by a chance for media to taste the renowned dish unique to the region.

Located in southern Japan, the port city promises the best of all worlds: a cosmopolitan stomping ground, cultural performances, gorgeous urban gardens, Edo-era architecture, and easy access to the scenic countryside. One of nine routes to Japan in the HK Express network, the Hong Kong-Takamatsu exclusive direct flight operates four times weekly and has welcomed more than 58,000 guests since its inauguration.

Early July, HK Express marked the occasion with a photo shoot at the Hong Kong International Airport, where Operations Director Simon Wu and Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Senior Director Yasumasa Shimizu distributed specially-designed HK Express pouches to guests boarding flight UO3522 to Takamatsu. Over in Takamatsu, representatives from the Kagawa Prefecture surprised guests boarding flight UO3523 to Hong Kong with Sanuki Udon Livery aircraft-themed souvenir folders as they boarded.

“In just one year since launching this popular route, HK Express has already flown nearly 60,000 travellers between Hong Kong and Takamatsu,” said Andrew Cowen, Director and CEO of HK Express. “The momentum continues month after month, and it’s not hard to see why. Between the seaside location and easy access to the Japanese countryside, Takamatsu City is an ideal travel base for exploring the idyllic Kagawa region.”

To celebrate the Hong Kong-Takamatsu route anniversary with guests, HK Express is offering a special birthday promotion: one-way flight to Takamatsu from HKD61*. The deal runs from 17 July (21:00) to 20 July 2017 (23:59), travel valid between 28 August 2017 and 24 March 2018.

* The offer does not include taxes or fees and other government imposed taxes and charges and is subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply.
