Hong Kong, 17 July 2026 – HK Express Airways (HK Express) today (17 July 2026) officially launched its brand-new route between Hong Kong and Wuxi in Jiangsu Province! Operating daily direct flights to Wuxi Shuofang Airport (WUX) with a flight time of around 2.5 hours, Wuxi marks the airline’s sixth destination in the Chinese Mainland. This addition further strengthens the route network across the Yangtze River Delta, deepening two-way connections between Hong Kong and the region’s core city clusters.

The daily service provides business, leisure, and family travellers with more flexible and efficient choices. Flights from Hong Kong to Wuxi depart in the afternoon and arrive in the early evening, Meanwhile, the return flight from Wuxi departs at night, offering travellers the convenience of connecting through Hong Kong to other destinations or preparing for next-day business activities.

“Wuxi marks our sixth destination in the Chinese Mainland and represents another important step in HK Express’ continued expansion across the regional network,” said HK Express CEO Jeanette Mao. “The launch of this new daily direct service provides travellers between Hong Kong, Wuxi and the wider Eastern China region with a more convenient, flexible and affordable travel option. Through our codeshare partnership with Cathay Pacific, we are also enabling passengers from Wuxi and southern Jiangsu province to connect seamlessly via Hong Kong to a wide range of destinations across Asia and around the world. Playing an important role in the Cathay Group’s dual-brand strategy, HK Express will continue to leverage Hong Kong’s strength as an international aviation hub, further enhancing connectivity between the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and global markets while offering travellers more choices to fly on their own terms.”

To celebrate the inaugural flight, a commemorative ceremony was held at Hong Kong International Airport. Ms. Xu Hui, huqin virtuoso from the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, was invited to perform an erhu piece for departing passengers, a nod to Wuxi's rich cultural heritage as the “Hometown of the Erhu”. Upon arriving at Wuxi Shuofang Airport, the inaugural flight was welcomed with a traditional aviation water salute, followed by a local welcome ceremony.

Wuxi, the “Pearl of Taihu Lake”, perfectly blends traditional Jiangnan flair with modern urban vitality. Travellers can stroll through Yuantouzhu to admire the spectacular lake and mountain views of Lake Tai, visit the Lingshan Grand Buddha to experience peace and tranquility, or wander through Huishan Ancient Town and the Qingming Bridge Historical and Cultural Block to savour the unique charm of the Jiangnan water towns. As a renowned century-old industrial and commercial city, Wuxi not only preserves a rich historical heritage, but also brims with modern urban energy and innovation, making it an ideal destination for travellers to slow down and discover delightful surprises.
