Hong Kong-based airline HK Express is pleased to be named one of the world’s ‘Top 10 Safest Low Cost Airlines for 2018’ by AirlineRatings.com for the third year running, coming in with a “7-star safety rating” — the highest ranking possible. Announced on 3 January 2018, the annual study shortlisted the “Top 20 Safest Airlines” and “10 safest Low-Cost Carriers” (LCCs) in the world, drawing from a pool of more than 400 airlines, including both full-service and low-cost carriers.

Hong Kong-based airline HK Express waved goodbye to 2017 with a special countdown celebration on New Year’s Eve at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). President Mr. Li Dianchun and the senior management team surprised guests on the airline’s last arriving flight of the year: UO1845, which flew from Osaka-Kansai to Hong Kong on 31 December 2017.

Hong Kong-based airline HK Express, a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), will implement a new policy on the “Acceptance of Smart Baggage with Integrated Lithium Batteries” on 1 January 2018 to address recent developments of innovative baggage with integrated lithium batteries, known as “Smart Baggage”. The decision is based on the IATA’s guidelines, as adopted by the airline industry for safety management and risk mitigations.

In response to media enquiry about cancellation of five flights on 3 and 4 of October 2017, HK Express clarified that the flights in question were unrelated to the 18 flights which the airline announced their cancellations before the “Golden Week” holidays.
