Summer English Class in Yunnan (2018 & 2019)

For the second year in a row, we travelled to Yunnan to visit the underprivileged children at Yongshan Sowers Children's Home. During those few days, our team of volunteers gave basic English lessons to local children and spent time with them through cultural activities such as cooking, crafts and sports. Opened in 2016, the Yongshan Sowers Children’s Home is now servicing 80 underprivileged children in the area, providing them accommodation, dining, recreation and learning facilities. HK Express’ team of volunteers are committed to continuing this programme and hope to reach out to more children in need.

Christmas Celebration with Tung Chung Senior Citizens 2019

Committed to serving the community and helping those in need, our volunteers collaborate with non-profit organisations in Tung Chung every Christmas to host a party for the senior residents. For the fifth consecutive year, we prepared Christmas gifts, games and meals for over 200 elderly citizens in Tung Chung. This annual event not only allows our team to give back to the community, it is also an opportunity for us to understand and provide support to the elderly in our neighbourhood.

Kagawa Exchange Tour for Hong Kong Underprivileged Students (July 2018)

HK Express hosted an exciting tour that took six talented students to Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture of Japan in July 2018. The participants were the winners of the A321 Aircraft Livery Design Competition for underprivileged secondary school students. The action-packed itinerary comprised hands-on activities and cultural exchange experiences, such as university visit, Chiyoda Manufacturing Corporation tour to learn about renewable energy, Sanuki Udon-making workshop, volunteering at an elderly home, and an art tour to the nearby Ogijima Island.

iBakery x HK Express 5th Anniversary Cookie Sale (Oct 2018)

We partnered with iBakery - a social enterprise under Tung Wah Group of Hospitals who train and hire people with disabilities, to sell handcrafted cookies on board HK Express flights as part of our 5th anniversary social initiatives. We have successfully sold over 3,000 boxes of cookies and all proceeds generated have gone to on-the-job training for iBakery staff, as well as operational costs for their production and retail facilities.

Guide & Assistance Dogs

Since transitioning to a low-fare airline in 2013, HK Express has endeavoured to make travel safe and accessible for every customer. As an Assistance Dog-friendly airline, we arranged a familiarisation tour for two visually impaired customers and their guide dogs through Hong Kong International Airport and onto our aircraft in 2017. Going forward, we continue to work with local organisations to ensure barrier-free flight experiences and provide special assistance for our customers and their service dogs.

Hong Kong International Film Festival – Movie Screening for Local Students (2016 – 2018)

For three consecutive years, we are honoured to be one of the official sponsors of the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF). To cultivate creativity and cross-cultural awareness amongst Hong Kong youth, we joined hands with HKIFF to co-host a movie screening night for local students. During the 2018 event, we also invited underprivileged secondary school students to partake in an aircraft livery design competition, where they had a chance to win an all-expenses-paid cultural tour in Kagawa, Japan.

Serving Hot Meals at Food Angel Community Centre

Food Angel collects edible produce from over 200 markets, wholesalers, hotels and restaurants every day and turn these surplus items into nutritionally balanced meals. Our volunteers joined the team at their Shum Shui Po Community Centre to serve hot meals to the elderly living alone and those who are underprivileged within this impoverished community. Catering to over 250 elderly and offering outreach services to provide daily support, we believe this is a worthwhile charity to make our city a better place.

HK Express in Support for PCCN’s Fight Against Virus

During the critical period of novel coronavirus, HK Express supported Post Crisis Counseling Network (PCCN) by offering 1,700kg air cargo to transport masks and sanitizers from Hiroshima, Japan to Hong Kong. Our staff volunteers also participated the delivery work where the materials were disseminated to five local non-profit organisations to help the communities in need. PCCN is a non-profit organisation based in Hong Kong that is dedicated to humanitarian assistance and counselling services in midst of major crises.
