Hong Kong’s fun-filled airline HK Express is getting in the holiday spirit with a two-part celebration. The festivities include a four-day Christmas Sale, as well as an exciting Facebook Live event, featuring none other than Galaman, Hong Kong’s very own armpit-inspired superhero who first debuted in an online animation series in 2011.
First things first, the Facebook festivities: HK Express is excited to launch an interactive social media campaign with Galaman on the HK Express Facebook page (www.facebook.com/HKExpress). This Sunday afternoon, 17 December, the Hong Kong superhero will host a Facebook Live stream together with DJ Maria Tang in a playful game of hide-and-seek with fans – Galaman will be hiding in a secret location in Central (at 13:30) and Tsim Sha Tsui (at 16:30), dropping hints on Facebook Live through his illustrations. The first HK Express guests to track down Galaman at the mystery locations and complete a set of challenges will receive a Christmas gift from HK Express.
What’s in the gift? HK Express will be giving away one free ticket to each of the first five guests to reach each location (a total of 10 tickets to be given away). The tickets will be redeemable for all destinations on the HK Express network. But if you’re not among the early winners, not to worry: The airline will also be handing out 100 vouchers, each worth HKD100, to the next 50 arrivals at each location.
To accompany the Facebook event, HK Express will also host a special Christmas Sale. Guests can treat their loved ones to a getaway across 23 destinations in the HK Express network with fares starting from as low as HKD68*. The special promotion takes off on 18 December (18:00) and the booking period runs until 21 December 2017 (18:00), with travel valid between 24 February and 14 July 2018.
Among the 23 destinations up for grabs, travellers can experience Taichung and Hualien, in Taiwan; Hiroshima and Fukuoka, in Japan; and Siem Reap, in Cambodia. There’s never a bad time to go to Japan: In the winter and early spring, the coastal city of Fukuoka lures gourmands to taste the fresh sashimi and regional ramen, while Hiroshima, promises enchanting cherry blossom festivals, fresh oysters and addictive Tsukemen noodle soup.
Meanwhile, spring and early summer are the perfect times to visit Siem Reap — just in time for the beginning of the wet season (from March onwards), when the rice paddies and forests shine a verdant green. In Taiwan, Taichung calls to culture enthusiasts, while Hualien provides an idyllic home base to explore the eastern coast and the stunning Taroko Gorge. Happy holidays!
