Updates on HK Express Flights to Japan

Based on the latest advice by the Japanese authorities, HK Express can confirm that it will be able to continue to operate flights to Japan, including Tokyo (Narita and Haneda), Osaka-Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Okinawa.

However, as airlines are not allowed to increase flights beyond that operated in the week of 23-29 December 2022, HK Express will only be able to operate 60 scheduled flights per week to destinations in Japan, meaning it would have to cancel 41 flights from Hong Kong to Japan in January 2023. In order to comply with the Japanese authorities’ requirement, the following schedule changes will be made:

For Flights from Hong Kong to Japan:

  • From 29 December 2022 to 13 January 2023, all flights operate as scheduled.
  • From 14 January 2023 until further notice, we will operate a reduced flight schedule. The following flights will be cancelled:

For Flights from Japan to Hong Kong:

  • All flights in January 2023 are expected to operate as scheduled.

Customer Travelling to Fukuoka and Okinawa

As required by the Japanese authorities, customers who have booked flights to Fukuoka and Okinawa from 30 December 2022 must declare that they have not been to the Chinese Mainland within the seven days prior to their departure. Customers will be asked to sign a self-declaration during check-in at the airport. Those who are unable to meet this requirement can choose to refund or rebook their flights.

Ticketing Arrangements:

Customers who have been affected by the flight cancellations will receive a notification via email and SMS. They will be offered the following options.

  • Option 1:Date/ Time Change to the Same Destination
    1) Subject to seat availability
    2) No change fee applies*
    3) No fare difference applies*
    4) The change application must be made on or before the original departure date
    5) New trip must be completed on or before 30 June 2023

* The offer is applicable to first-time change only

  • Option 2: Full Refund
    1) Include Flight Related Fees, i.e. purchased baggage allowance, seat selection, inflight meals and U-First.
    2) Application must be made on or before 31 January 2023

Customers who have won tickets in the COVID-19 Vaccination Free Air Tickets Lucky Draw initiated by Airport Authority Hong Kong, and redeemed ticket prizes with flights from 30 December 2022 to 31 January 2023 (inclusive) will be offered the following options:

  • Option 1:Date/ Time Change to the Same Destination
    1) Subject to seat availability
    2) No change fee applies*
    3) No fare difference applies*
    4) The change application must be made on or before the original departure date
    5) New trip must be completed on or before 30 June 2023

* The offer is applicable to first-time change only

  • Option 2: Refund of Fees
    1) Applicable to Flight Related Fees only, i.e. baggage allowance, seat selection, inflight meals and U-First
    2) The refund application must be made on or before 31 January 2023
