Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, is an occasion for families to gather, share mooncakes and admire the full moon together.
This year, Hong Kong elevates the celebrations with the inaugural International Lantern Spectacular at Victoria Park – featuring global lantern displays and traditional craftsmanship – alongside iconic traditions like the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, festive mall displays plus special dining and shopping offers citywide.
Hong Kong feels extra special during the Mid-Autumn Festival, when colourful lanterns transform its streets into picture-perfect night scenes. Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance
A recognized National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the 67-metre fire dragon adorned with 12,000 burning incense sticks is paraded by over 300 performers, accompanied by a small LED dragon carried by children. Continuing the tradition that prays for peace and safety, the Dance showcases a cherished, time-honored custom in Hong Kong.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival, Hong Kong’s Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance will take place on the evenings of 24-26 September 2026 at Wun Sha Street in Tai Hang, Causeway Bay. The celebration takes over the streets, with incense smoke curling through the air, drums echoing through the neighbourhood and a fire-lit dragon weaving through the night. If you’ve never witnessed it before, this is a spectacle that will stay with you long after your trip: powerful, atmospheric and impossible to forget.
